We are fortunate enough to have Kristie join the Wenty Leagues’ team just in time for the launch of our brand-new casual food and entertainment precinct, The Plaza.
It is only weeks until Kristie moves into her new oasis ‘Crave Desserts’, where she will be bringing her creations to life!
Kristie has always been around cooking, from an early age she was frequently in the kitchen with her mother. She then went on to working at the local café making small pastry desserts and cakes. However, it wasn’t until completing her High School Certificate that Kristie decided to turn her passion into a career. Since then Kristie has obtained experience in commercial and corporate
workspaces as a chef and pastry chef.
This morning we popped into Kristie’s workspace to get a sneak peak on how preparations for the launch of The Plaza are coming along. Here’s what she had to say:
What excites you most about the opening of The Plaza?
Aside from working in a brand-new kitchen, I’m excited because The Plaza is something different, something outside the norm. Especially since Crave Desserts is a ‘made to order’ dessert bar that allows me to flex my creativity.
What makes the perfect dessert?
It’s all about balance, I love making a dessert that people want to finish and I think for that to happen, there needs to be a balance of sweet and savoury flavours coming through.
What is the strangest thing that you have ever cooked?
Apart from the crazy cake or two, I had to make a sweet potato cream custard! It was an Asian inspired dessert dish that I was asked to make when I was starting out as an apprentice.
What are your favourite ingredients to work with?
I love working with pretty ingredients, so a lot of garnishes. I absolutely love edible flowers and of course, chocolate!
What should we expect at Crave Desserts?
Something delicious! You can expect the unexpected, we will be serving and creating desserts that haven’t been seen in clubs before and the best part is that we have created the Crave Desserts menu that suits different tastes so there’s something for everyone.
